Today we bring you a news report (from the SMU Jones film archive) which originally aired on local Dallas channel WFAA on March 5, 1974, about a police raid on the Lido Art Theatre. And you may remember the Lido Art as one of the theaters that our Beloved BAT PUSSY may have played in. One thing to note, you will see in this video the film cans and projectors were obviously 35MM, and while we don’t actually get to see into the projection booth itself, my guess is they probably had at least one, probably more, 16mm projectors tucked away as well. Which makes sense, given that 15 months later (we think) BAT PUSSY played there, and given the only two known prints of BP are 16mm they would have of course had to have a few 16mm projectors available (in fact most bottom barrel porn was 16mm, so I’m certain they had a few). Yep, a couple of years ago a second, more complete print of BAT PUSSY was found, and is now available on the all new re-release of BAT PUSSY on BLU-RAY! And this version even has a commentary by Cari Show World allies Melinda Belles & Dennis Campa, the folks behind the Vintage Texploitation Movement! And a big thanks to the folks at Something Weird Video, American Genre Film Archives (AGFA), and Vinegar Syndrome for going yet another round with BP.
