Today we’re looking at what was playing in LA on Thanksgiving Day 1972…well actually Thanksgiving was on November 23 back in 1972, but these same smutty gems were more than likely playing yesterday as well. And MAN was there were a ton of smut to choose from, some films and even some theatres (such as the Cinema 1200) we’re not sure we’ve even ever heard of. One we for sure have heard of, and highly recommend, is Fred Halsted’s LA PLAYS ITSELF. This is an amazing work of art, even if you don’t think lavender films are your thing. Give it a try, you’ll thank us.
We’ve made a quick list of the theatres and films playing below, but before that, we also wanted to point out a live straight (as in not smut) stage production at the Santa Monica Playhouse, Satre’s “The Love Merchant”, starring a regular underground and adult film actor and director, Ted Roter (he used the name Peter Balachoff for his porn endeavors).
