As groundbreaking as THE EROTIC ADVENTURES OF BAT PUSSY must have been back in 1971 (it has been suggested as one of the first true parody porns) the usage of the Bat Woman and other female comic book characters in adult entertainment was not a new thing. In this series we’ll be looking at several precursors, older cousins if you will, of our beloved Bat Pussy. There will also be a special post down the road on what I think can be considered Bat Pussy’s spiritual God Mother. But first we’ll start with a more feline inspired spread.
SNAP – volume 8 number 1 – Sept, Oct, Nov 1968
For our first installment we have Ms Jill Castle (no idea if that was her real name), from the late 1968 edition of “Snap” magazine, an American Art Agency, Inc rag. And as you can see Ms Castle has created a very Cat Woman style look for herself, which is a concoction of her own, if the following narrative can be believed…
Jill Castle has been interested in the world of fashion design ever since her first creation some two years ago. Although she hasn’t caught the eye of designers like Mary Quant and Rudi Gernreich, her new racy, lacy jump suit ought to raise a few eyebrows. ‘With fashions always reaching new heights, I think there is a place for my design,’ says the talented Jill. ‘After all, there’s more style and elegance in it than in the obsolete topless swimsuit!’
OK, so maybe not a close cousin of our Beloved Bat Pussy, but we’re just getting started. Things will warm up and be more batty next time when we’ll do some spelunking into the Bat Cave…
