Once again we’re back in NYC, and we have a rather big surprise in our line up: an Andy Milligan play! Yes, at the Jewel Theater we had Milligan’s SECTION 8, which may or may not have been a semi-autobiographical story about his time in the military, and his eventual ousting from it. The script for this was also included in last years reprinting of Jimmy McDonough’s “Ghastly One”, the definitive biography of Milligan. Beyond that we have fair mostly typical for 1971, and we even have a Jim Haskin film in the bunch, KIDNAPPED! at the Mini Cinema (one of the few films with Haskin’s name included in the credits).

THE SHRINE OF OUR LADY OF THE DRAGON ART
For many of you connoisseurs of smut The Dragon Art Theatre, made famous by Something Weird Video series of the same name, and the usage of the Donn Davison’s introduction to those videos (first on VHS, then DVD and DVD-R, and now also downloadable, for now…), is not an unfamiliar name. And while a certain mythos has grown up around it, I submit little is actually known of the Dragon Art Theatre itself, and what does seem to “known” is at least in part completely wrong.

GUYS & DOLLS NYC – SOMETHING TO WRITE HOME ABOUT
Last week on one of the NYC FB groups we lurk around in someone asked if anyone remembered a strip club from the mid-late 1970s called Guys & Dolls. Well Uncle Spicy threw a couple of the research marmosets loose in the archive and they very quickly came back with not only validation that such…
THE FILTH SHOP (1969) (X) – nsfw-ish
The following is based on a recent post I made on the Something Weird Video Facebook group, which in effect is a review of the SWV release of THE FILTH SHOP (1969) and two of the other shorts on that “disk”. I’ve kept it mostly intact, although I do add some location-specific pictures and a…
FAUX BOYCE – NSFW
I was perusing the pages of the September 1969 edition of SWANK and ran into a somewhat confusing anomaly in the “A Woman For All Seasons” spread, which begins with: Linda Boyce believes city living breeds miseries. She’s a country girl and wants always to live close to the trees and fields. Linda Boyce is…
