If you’ve ever seen Mariylyn Chamber’s masterpiece INSATIABLE [1] you’ll remember that a number of scenes are set in London [2]. The INSATIABLE scenes around the city only took a couple of days, and these were shot at some point during an extended residency for Chambers. From mid-September 1979 to early April 1980 she was performing her one-woman show “SEX CONFESSIONS” at the Boulevard Theatre inside Paul Raymond’s Revue Bar in SoHo [3].
Not one to waste an opportunity to exploit a good thing, Paul Raymond used his ready access to Chambers to rope her into being the guest host of the first two episodes if the ELECTRIC BLUE video series [4].
Well, in any case, her for your consideration, are Mariyln’s unedited bits from ELECTRIC BLUE episode 2.
Notes and things...- If you have seen INSATIABLE stop reading now and go watch it. You’ll thank us.[ā]
- The flashback scenes with Chamber’s aunt touring London. Her aunt was played by the British singer and commedienne Joan Turner, who at one time was so popular she topped the bill over The Beatles, but by 1979 her drinking and general pain-in-the-ass work ethic had led her to burn most of her bridges and most of her money as well. So she was in nonposition to be too choosy on what roles she took, but even still when she discovered, well acter filming, that she’d inadvertentlyparticipated in an actual porno (the version released in the UK was softcore, although it was shot and released in the US fully hardcore) she was livid, claiming “I only saw my pages of the script, and i certainly was not in any of the naughty scenes.” I wonder what Turner thought when she finally discovered it was a full-on hardcore film?! We’llcome back to INSATIABLE in a later post.[ā]
- We’planning on a dedicated post about SEX CONFESSIONS at some point, for now the summary is it started as a one-woman show originally entitled SEX SUROGATE, and staring Chambers in Las Vegas earlier in 1979, where its sexual frankness and full nudity ran afoul of the censors, in SIN FREAKING CITY! Stay tuned for that story…[ā]
- Again, we’replanning on a post about ELECTRIC BLUE at some point. For now enjot our EB vids on the Capri Show World YouTube Channel.)), which would run from late 1979 through the 1908s, with a new video “magazine” coming every three or so months.. These first two videos hosted by Chambers would be edited together into ELECTRIC BLUE: THE MOVIE, which saw a theatrical release in the UK in 1981, no doubt hoping to cash in on, or perhaps to add to, the hype around INSATIABLE. Since Raymond was behind ELECTRIC BLUE, he also used the opportunity to have Chambers advertise her show at his SoHo theatre, and even included a dance number from of Chambers from his Revue Bar. Along the way Chambers also teases the punters with mentions of her ring (which she finally reveals in the unedited video below), as well a segment shilling INSATIABLE itself ((We haven’t delved in to whether Raymond had any stakes in INSATIABLE directly, but we won’t be surprised if he did.[ā]
