In a post from last year, BOWLING AND BABES, we highlighted a little know starlet from the late 1960s/early 1970s, Mara Moder. Rene Bond and Starlyn Simone were the other two participants in that bowling event, so Ms Moder was very much the mystery lady. We were able to construct a fairly detailed history of her, at least up to January 1972, but she pretty much dropped off the map after that. And that was that…
Until a few weeks ago when Ms Moder reentered our lives, this time in the form of a two page layout the June 1971 edition of “Follies” magazine (Modest Modiste)! In the short write-up which accompanies the pictures we find that Ms Moder was evidently chosen as “Queen of the Artists’ Models” the previous year, which we assume means 1970. However we’ve found no additional evidence to back that claim up (although we will continue sifting through as much smut as is needed to find i!). We also find that she’s recently taken a breather from modeling so as not to be over-exposed (indeed) and that she’s turned her attention to fashion designing. Perhaps she was able to make a career out of that and that’s why she dropped from the scene shortly thereafter. In any case we still wish her the best of luck.
